Sambaland is Growing

May 3, 2018

The past few months have been quite a journey as we have endeavoured to expand and make Samba Land more efficient.

Here’s a List of what we have accomplished the past two months,

  • We built new JOJO stands at the highest point of Samba Land to give us better water pressure around the property,
  • We were blessed with a 10 000L JOJO tank, which is now installed,
  • We have laid 500 meters of poly pipe around the property, giving us many more water points,
  • We now have 16 water points (Taps) on the property,
  • We expanded our chicken coup,
  • We tripled our goat “kraal”, adding new fencing,
  • Started building our base house, which is near completion,
  • Started planting for our next harvest, which is aimed at generating income, sustenance and providing vegetables for our feeding programs.

Although many of these projects are aimed at growing Samba Land, we are in a phase where we need to invest in ourselves so we can cope with the growth and plans where we feel God is leading us.

Over the past few months God has so richly blessed us with so many beautiful things from our home church (The Barn Christian Fellowship).

  • A Toyota Hilux 4×4
  • A Nissen Hardbody 4×2
  • We have been blessed with branding for our vehicles,
  • The 10 000L JoJo Tank,
  • Piping,
  • Base House,
  • Materials for farm expansion,
  • A large amount of tools to work more efficiently,
  • A welding machine,
  • A Petrol chainsaw,
  • A Petrol grass cutter,

Unfortunately we had a turbo blowout on the Toyota Hilux bakkie on one of return trips to and from JHB, but we celebrate the good that is happening.

Please check our galleries for some photos of the progress.

Congrats to Bryce & Amore on the birth of their Son, Benjamin.

Getting to Sambaland!

Getting to Zambia…

Over the past two months Bryce & I have been preparing for our journey to Zambia. We are waiting very patiently and excited to go where God has called us which is the beautiful community of Ngwenya village in Livingstone, Zambia.

We have been busy with not only preparing ourselves physically but also spiritually. During the latter part of 2017, Bryce and I felt a strong call from God to move to Zambia on a more permanent basis to work in Ngwenya community, which we are both very passionate about. The Barn Christian Fellowship have been taking teams up to Zambia since 2012 and every year, our relationships has grown immensely deeper with the people there.

In our preparation to establish ourselves there more permanently, we applied for a voluntary work permit. The process in getting the permit has been an ongoing test of our patience and faith. We started the process last year September and yes we are still waiting patiently. It just goes to show that God’s timing is perfect. According to our timeline we were going to leave on the 15th of January 2018 and yet we are still here in Johannesburg. And although we have seen the waiting as frustration, we have managed by God’s grace to get a few more things into place. We have been setting up the website for our Samba Land base, we are excited to partner with Engineered Media who is helping us with our website, design and maintenance.  We feel incredibly blessed to have such a creative team of people supporting us. We are starting other social platforms as well, so we can keep everyone well informed of our progress and establishing the Samba Land projects. We have managed to set up a bank account for the Samba Land project so that all donations can be allocated correctly.

God has been speaking to us through this entire process through people bringing us encouraging messages and through his Word. In James 1:2-4 it says:  Count it all joy, my brothers  when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

God is growing  in this time and we are still very excited to see what God has in store for us this year. He is testing us and producing steadfastness, and unwavering faith. Firm in what we feel God has called us to.

Please continue to pray for us, for favour with our work permits and for God to continually prepare us for what is lying ahead.
